Steal My Ideas

I have decided to post regularly under “Steal My Ideas.”  Quite frankly, as a Small Business Advisor, I tire of people telling me that they had an idea and someone ripped them off.  They use this as an excuse for not moving forward, stunned like a deer in the middle of the highway paralyzed by an oncoming car.   Sure, I have been ripped off in life and quite frankly, who hasn’t?  The truth is you have to hold a few ace cards close to you and not play your whole hand.  I do feel it is okay to share ideas and lots of them.  I am an idea person and if someone wants all of them, well, they need to pay me.  From this day forward, I am going to post under a blog, “Steal My Ideas.”  Well, at least for now until I move on to the next idea. Today begins the journey:

Steal This Idea. If you are in the business of birthday cakes, why not feature pet birthday cakes?  Who else is doing this?  You can advertise your idea on Facebook and see who may respond.  Facebook is a good place to test ideas and not always the best place to sell.  Instagram is a great place to post an item too.  Recently, I saw a company http://www.beangoods.com post a teeshirt that said “Crazy Wiewlgrumpycatner Dog Lady.”  At that time, the shirt was not available but they posted a picture of it on Instagram with the message, “Please like this shirt and we will let you know when it is available.” In six hours there were 705 likes.

Here is another idea someone had, Grumpy Cat.  Grumpy Cat’s lucky benefactor, 28-year-old Tabatha Bundesen from Morristown, Arizona, whose brother posted the first picture of Grumpy Cat on Reddit. Bundesen was working as a waitress when Grumpy Cat went viral. She was able to quit her job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media and the phone has not stopped ringing since.  Last I checked, Grumpy Cat has grossed $100 million.

I think pet birthday cakes, could be a smash.  I have more ideas too.  Contact me at bonniekahn.com
